Founded in 1975, State Volunteer Insurance Company is a physician-owned and operated company. The company was one of the first organizations formed by physicians to insure their own medical liability risk. Its mission is to be the premier professional liability insurance company for physicians; to enhance the value of its relationship with physicians by seeking to prevent and solve other problems for physicians; and to increase the equity of the company s owners over time. The company s services include operational and financial assessments, new practice set-up, managed care strategy and coding consulting services. State Volunteer Mutual Insurance maintains its corporate headquarters in Brentwood, Tenn.
