The Domingue Center was named after one of Lafayette's greatest ever residnents. People need to appreceiate what "Mickey Domingue" did not only for the city of Lafayette but also all the youth programs he started as the Supt. of Parks and Recreation for so many years. Not only was he a boxing legend at Lafayette High and LSU he was also a decorated officer in the Army / Air Corps (now US Air Force) during WWII. He formed the first Air Force unit in the United States after the war.
