Me and my wife has stayed at the historic Menger Hotel several times and the hotel itself is beautiful elegant and very historic but we decided to stay there again and when we called make reservations the people at the front desk and the people that were going to take a reservation were very Unknowledgeable So sadly we won't be staying there this time

I've visited several hotels in san antonio and find that the menger has a lesser quality of service when compared to the marriott i.e.. I find that the other comments listed seemed to have been either posted by those whom work for the hotel or tourist who seemed to be sweeped up by the the supposed "history" behind its allure. In my opinon your best bet is to go with the marriott. keep in mind i'm not bad mouthing the menger hotel; yet in all honesty I found my stay at the marriott overshadowed my stay at the menger. Although the booked room for my birthday weekend was amazingly small & I was told they were all the same size, I learned from a staffer that they weren't. I returned to the front desk and was given a small suite over looking the garden. The air conditioning unit was noisy. However, it was a charming suite, the room service and dining were very good. Time spent in the lobby with piano music and holiday decor was wonderfull. And the spa on the premises was perfect. I would stay again but be very choosy about my room/suite.
