This bookstore is a jewel in the rough. It is community minded, has events for kids and adults and carries new and used books and unique gifts. I love to browse here with my 2-year old. We've found many pre-loved books that he loves at Changing Hands. It's also a good place to search for unique gifts. The best night to go is Tuesday night because the ice cream place a few doors down has family night with $1 kids scoops. :-)

This is my favorite store in Phoenix! Not only is there a wide selection of new and used books, they always have a lineup of fascinating speakers, whose lectures are often free. When I need a gift I know I will always find something special here. If a book I want is not in stock they're more than happy to order it and have it for me within a week. I love supporting local businesses and doing so here is always a treat. Bonus: Wildflower Bread Company next door to enjoy a meal before or after browsing.

Changing Hands continues to bring a community together in ways the national bookstore chains just can't seem to replicate. Their longevity in our community is due to a loyal following. Worth the extra few miles you may have to drive because of their knowledgeable staff, extensive calendar of activities, outstanding visiting authors, and their willingness to truly listen to what the community is craving- a place to gather.

Staff at Changing Hands is helpful and, most important, they know that which they sell! Their recommendations are always on target. I have ordered obscure editions and have always been pleased with the results. The bookstore offers workshops and reading sessions for people of all ages. In addition, they bring guest authors to the area. Changing Hands is the kind of bookstore every community should have.
