General Info

Where there used to be one, now there are seven. GreenAcres Market, a Midwestern chain of health food stores started by Barb Hoffmann and her family in 1994, got its start in Wichita, Kansas’ largest city and has spread through the years to Missouri and Oklahoma. It’s not stopped growing yet! The flagship store located in the Bradley Fair shopping center features an all-organic and local-produce salad bar, made-from-scratch hot case and deli menu, gluten-free, vegan and RAW dessert case, smoothie bar and more. Test marketing on customers has brought some winners to the daily menu including regular and gluten-free potpies, crunchy kale salad, cold berry soup and raw chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. Thanks to a refrigerated truck and a couple of vans, the rest of the stores in the chain partake of these nutritious goodies which are available in grab & go hot case/cold case standing units.

There is a decidedly negative, almost hostile, atmosphere at this store. I do not like that they have organic produce right beside non-organic produce as cross-contamination easily occurs. The staff are unusually quiet, no bubbly work as usual chatter, or even a greeting to customers. I paused in front of the deli case not once but twice during a recent visit without a word from anyone behind the counter. Only AFTER my purchase did I notice the rewards/discount card sign-up. I did sign up, but only because they carry a few hard to find items that I will most certainly have to go back for, but I was annoyed that the cashier did not mention signing up BEFORE I completed my $97 purchase. I expected so much more from a store like this. Disappointed.

What a terrible experience. I will never patronize this place again after the rude treatment I experienced here. I was hired to work in this deli after extensive background check because of my cooking experience in organic foods- just to be fired after three days because other members of the staff were fearful of losing their jobs because they were so threatened by me. A truly hurtful and ridiculous experience. The deli staff was very unprofessional and management is clearly not functioning properly.

Green Acres is the place to be! I have no idea what the previous reviewer was talking about. All of the employees are very nice, friendly, knowledgeable, and you can tell that they love their jobs. They do have organic foods. If it has the organic label, I assure you it is organic because I know where they get their produce from. Green Acres is a fun place to shop and the atmosphere is friendly and inviting. The employees are always happy to help you out and special order products if they do not carry something that you would like to have. You don't even have to pay in advance for the order either. I have been shopping at Green Acres for over 20 years and I will continue to shop there for many more years to come.

Could be a great store. They are very misleading . The produce they sell is labeled as organic. It is not. I have several times bought their veggies only to find out they are not organic. There are no good vibes there. The employees seem very unhappy to be working there. No good karma at this store. I have quit buying there and will never return.
